1. What is Topcon module difference from P-type module?
The TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) cell is an advanced type of N-type photovoltaic silicon cell. In recent years, because of its higher conversion efficiency, lower degradation performance, and superior price-to-performance ratio, it has been widely adopted as the leading successor to P-type PERC cells.
2. What is the efficiency of N-type photovoltaic cells?
The theoretical limit efficiency of TOPCon solar cells is up to 28.7%, which is the closest to the theoretical limit efficiency of crystalline silicon solar cells (29.43%), much higher than that of PERC (24.5%).
3. How much different is the price of N-type modules from that of P-type modules?
The TOPCon module currently has a minor price premium of about $0.015 - $0.02 USD per watt compared to P-type modules, which is quickly offset by its higher power generation and lower BOS costs.
4. Will TOPCon module connect differently from P-type module?
The physical string connection type (MC4 compatible connectors) is identical to traditional P-type modules, but the cell manufacturing technology inside provides superior efficiency and lower temperature coefficient.
